Re the SLQ, the other three are type 2A from 1917-1924. The date was recessed in 1925 and dateless coins are much less likely in Type 2B.

to the CCF You are taking a sensible approach to sorting your mothers collection. Keep showing occasional photos and we can help. The 1943 dated Washington quarters all grade in the VG range with the lower right example maybe squeezing out F12. As such they are considered bulk silver and worth silver melt which today is $4.55 each But hey - you have one for each of your three kids and one for yourself. Perfect.

Thanks for the info on the quarters. I have no previous experience with older coins so I appreciate any info the members here can give me. I have more photos ready so I'll be posting them today.

Some decent 1948s. The only two I have from 1936. I'm enjoying these well worn coins. You have to wonder where they have been.

I have clicked on Topic Subscription but I'm not receiving email notifications when a reply has been posted. Is there something else I have to do?

Can anyone tell me what we're supposed to look for in the hair around the ear on the 1962 Jefferson nickels?

As you may know, the War Nickels (with the large mintmark above the dome) are 35% silver and as such carry a premium.
