Ok here in my close up with my scope.
The image gets worse and flatter, the closer I magnify.
Probably not designed to be examined so close in - the Frosting washes it out.

IMHO I think the Mint should have made the Privy a bit larger to provide more area for finer detail, the current productions do not equate to what I expected when the phrase "Laser Engraved" was introduced.

Gilly, your third picture of the Army Privy close-up shows the best details compared to the Navy Privy...

. . . . . . . . A Little Beef:
. . . . As an X US Navy Sailor, I DO-NOT-APPROVE of this bogus Navy Privy the US Mint has given us!

Below is the 'Real' emblem to represent the US Navy, it's displayed on my Navy Discharge papers and awarded pin...

Here is what the US Mint is using: a quick and basic Navy emblem and still not even close...

I like many Here are collecting the Entire mint marked series, The " ride " is getting Bumpy, Many have bailed, For good reason Too.

I would like to see an Example of this design struck with Classic Dies, and compare them. That Would be Something to Really see the Differences....

Very Poor flaw(s) in the " modern " American Silver Eagles released with The Laser Engraved system, Very Small Privy marks with No fine details. If people are going to Commemorate The United States Military, Maybe Use their Own Emblems or Insignias, And make them distinguishable.

No details in the Tiny privy.

Less Fine details on the Overall coins surfaces

The U S Mints charge More Money and give Sub Par releases.

The " Laser Engraved " releases , IMO *uck.....

This is technology in advancement, I beg to Differ.......

Part of what I'm talking about, is if the problem is the laser engraving, or is it San Francisco Mint? The Army privy (W) looked good, as did the laser privy (W) (for both both the privy and the overall strike).
Then compared to the normal S Proof and the Navy privy, the regular design elements as well as the Navy privy, neither looked great.
Bear in mind the Philly mint produces the master and working dies for all mints.
It'll be really interesting to see the Marine privy.
Be a lot of PO'd Marines if it looks as bad as the Navy privy mark. Gotta see them continents on the globe or it's just a ball!

They probably used the emblem they did due to the complexity of the design for such a tiny privy.

I wonder what they will come up with for a MORE COMPLEX design, such as the Marine Corps privy.
. . . . . They failed with the Navy design privy shown here on the left...
