Yes, no problem. As far as "2 Purple Hearts". My dad didn't really want to talk about Korea very much. But for whatever reason, he made sure we had this straight, so this is straight from a recipient: You don't get "2". He said it's the Order of The Purple Heart. Once you're "in", you're in. So what I learned since then (he passed in 1982), is the Marines and Navy, anyways, for second+ times you get wounded in combat, your get a gold star. That gets added to the purple ribbon or on the bar. That's just what his had. Just called a "Purple Heart with gold star".

Quote: Nice Gilly, You Should be Very , Very Proud. As should you! I hate to drag this off topic stuff out too much. Dad was wounded pretty severely by shrapnel, was out of commission I think a could months, I have his service records and could quote "to the day" if needed. Came back up to the line, as he called it. Later in the year he was shot in the arm, bullet went into his chest, the bullet was never retrieved (!), he died with that in him yet. Well they sent him back up on the line. The company chaplain (I always think "Fr Mulcahy") saw him. The Fr said "want that the second time you got wounded? Dad said, "well, yeah". The Fr said "you shouldn't be here, after you get hit the second time, you get rotated back". THE next day, he was out of there, very early 1953. Participated in "Operation Upshot/Knothole" at the Las Vegas test site, a nuclear test! They set an A Bomb of and his platoon marched through the area immediately after observing the effects. This was I think March or April 53. Released in August 53, married my mom February 54.

Just called a "Purple Heart with gold star". Correct - that is what I meant. 'stars' on the medals and ribbons, just like I have 4 bronze stars on my overseas deployment ribbon.
