As I've mentioned before I am a collector, not an investor. I enjoy buying silver coins (just ask the fine folks at APMEX) and I do not plan on ever selling any of my collection. I am not thrilled about the Mint's new prices but they are not my main source for coins.

I said earlier that I will be buying the 2023 Silver Proof Set from the US Mint but because of the higher price I will only buy three sets instead of six that I normally would have bought. I'm just not thrilled about it because like most of you I paid $55 for the 2019 set, $64 for the 2020 set but then $105 for the 2021 set and the 2022 set. I'll still buy the ASE Proof and Silver Proof Set from the US Mint but I'll occasionally buy ASE Certified and ASE BU from other sites. I'm also buying the earlier Silver Proof Sets from other sites like APMEX and Mount Vernon Coin.

Quote: How's the Quality at those Sites I've been very happy with APMEX as far as quality. Other than the ASE Proofs and Silver Proof Sets that I purchased from the US Mint the majority of coins that I have posted here were purchased from APMEX. I'm not experienced enough to comment on packaging. I guess any coin site can acquire OGP and put their coins in it. Another thing I like about APMEX is their large inventory. Mount Vernon Coin Company is a site that I just found. I've placed a couple of orders with them and their product is as advertized and they have shipped quickly.

I stopped when they jumped from $64 to $105 for the silver proof sets. I however was sent a coupon to use for the proof sets and I did get the 2021 or 2022 at about a 30% discount (I think brought down to old prices). $130 for less than 1.5 oz of silver is crazy. They never did have mintage limit as it was made to demand. Sometimes the demand was nothing which resulted in an expensive silver proof set (2012 spiked alot a few years ago to about $200 for the silver proof set and it has settled to 100-130 now). The 2022 proof set (clad) had a lower mintage and sells for $55 on ebay. As many said earlier, Collect it if you want to. For most proof sets, they are not fantastic investments. You can now get the pride of two nations for $150...

Quote:You can always wait and buy them off ebay - For $185.00 each... ebay item number: 325686686994 Agreed. There's no mintage limit but there is a product limit of 285,000ish. That's a low mintage for a modern proof set. the 2022 is actually a lower mintage than this one. that ebay 185 price is gonna be cheap in retrospect.
