So I walked into a new store which opened up near work. Dealer had a few Swiss Shooting medals. I saw this one which stood out in its design and very low mintage, only 240 medals minted. Only downside is the rim bump on medal, yet my decision to purchase was based on my concern that I will never run into such a piece again. If I do, I can always trade-up.
Medal: Obverse - Coat of Arms of Uri Canton and Altdorf within an oak and olive wreath with the cross of Switzerland above. Reverse - Crossbow man with a boy at his side who is looking up to him. Cataloged as Martin 896.
I located same exact medal on coinarchives, see similar slight bump at 10PM (above Kantonales). I am very pleased.
The artwork in these is amazing -- can you imagine the cost of buying a "bronze" by a sculpture? I always thought these are a great buy and that one is a beauty.
Beautiful Shooting medal. I would love to find some old shooting medals. I do have some, but they are my own. And I guess 1997-2000 isn't considered old. Nice find!
