I also have been reading this link which pretty firmly puts it in the Indian peace medal camp , albeit a copy possibly. biokemist6 Bedrock of the Community United States 12437 Posts	Posted 04/28/2009 11:44 pm No, the medal from the US Mint website has been available for many years and they just mint more when the supply runs low. To give you an example, I purchased this exact same medal in Springfield, IL as a kid in the early 1980s. The Washington Medal was available at Mount Vernon in the early 1990s when I was there, although I no longer have that one because it was stolen The Mint-produced medal is 1 5/16" in diameter but I do not have a weight handy.
