my grandfather was given these by a friend at work who got them at a yard sale. I am pretty sure they are chinese. I think they are probably fake because to me any coin that comes from there is fake until proven other wise I know the pictures aren't great but it is as good as I can get them.

do you think they are fake? I think they are supposed to be silver but to me they dont have that silver sound. thanks for the help.

They are Chinese, but sadly fake. The color itself is already off.

Coin on second pic, right doesn't exist (if the reverse is the dragon) because there were no portraits of people on Chinese coins until the Fat man and Sun Yat Sen dollars.

And... the other one with the border is just a momento m'thinks.

yes it does have a dragon on the reverse. they just didn't feel right to me even though it is the first time I have seen these. plus each of the coins are either slightly bigger or smaller than each other.

actually the color is pretty consistent on all the coins my camera made them look more off then they are.

do you know if they were supposed to be made of silver?

Hello
I find simple program for identify Chinese Han characters (hieroglyphs)
you can download it here http://rusiancoin.narod.ru/china/COCR2_100 **(No Zip Files Allowed)**

You can load in this program picture of coin in bmp format and identify hieroglyph and after it one of online dictionary to get translation

And you need Chinese fonts
