I have a medal or token from the Empire Coin Company and I cannot find any information about it. I think it is bronze but I am not sure. Does anyone know anything about this? One side has a figure of "Justice" holding a scale and the other side has an "eagle" with a wreath above its head. I tried to upload pictures but the size is too large and I don't know how to fix that. Thanks.

Is "Empire Coin Company" on the coin itself or is it on the packaging?

Without pictures I can't even venture a guess with just an eagle and justice on it

The words Empire Coin Company Inc. are on the coin itself. Here are the pictures which I hope will come through so you can see this piece from each side. Thanks again!

Just lifted this from an article about Q daved bowers om Wikipedia. I assume that this is for the same Empire Coin Co.

"Bowers teamed up with James F. Ruddy -- the first of several partners to figure in his career -- to form the Empire Coin Co. in Johnson City, N.Y.[4] The company rode the crest of the mail-order boom in the early 1960s to become one of the nation's leading coin dealerships.[4]"

This is an advertising token made in the early 1960's for Dave Bowers and James Ruddy when they operated Empire Coin Company from Johnson City, N.Y. The dies were made by the late Alphonse Kolb, a nationally recognized die sinker who was employed by Bastian Brothers of Rochester, N.Y. I have owned the dies(2004-2007)which last sold at auction in November 2007. The tokens were struck primarily in antiqued copper, with a few having been struck in silver. The copper tokens trade in the $10-$20 range. The obverse motif is copied from the 1787 IMMUNIS COLUMBIA copper, and the reverse from the U.S. $5 Gold half eagle of 1795, the latter being the Empire Coin Company trademark.
