I'm still learning and researching so please be patient with me.

I keep seeing coins with this sort of lettering, is this some sort of error or just mechanical damage?

Please no photos of your scopes screen,use a memory card. Looks like a lighting issue to me not a mint error.We see this kind post a lot here on CCF.

with my scope, I use a USB cable and plug it into my computer, then I open the 'Camera' APP and use that to save images.

I see that sort of appearance a lot when looking at very shiny new cents through a scope or very bright direct light. I think it is glare (I sometimes call it glare doubling).

If you move it around into different lighting it should go away.
