2012 P Quarter Mystery Error With Distorted Rim Lettering

Slight Greaser w/ Die Deterioration, IMO.

Two questions...

Do the striated cracks and distorted lettering on the reverse (which look entirely different from the grease error on the obverse) indicate Die Deterioration? The obverse lettering is distorted softly by grease, whereas, the reverse lettering's distortion is more angular and looks like Hieroglyphs.

Does this damage add any value to the coin?

Those are radial flow lines, which indicate Die Deterioration. The longer a die is struck, the more the metal flows from the center to the outside. You can see that on the date, as the features have begun to ooze towards the rim.

The flattened devices on the front might be a grease strike (basically just clogged grooves on the die that cannot be struck correctly). More likely it is a sign of severe Die Deterioration, as Errers lists above. All the features on the obverse are fading into mush.

In short, that pair of dies was pushed way, way beyond the point where they could reliably strike quality coins with sharp features.
