I'm guessing heavily corroded, then cleaned. Harsh physical or chemical cleaning of heavy corrosion (eg. acid) would reduce the weight, and leave a "moonscape" surface.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
Thanks for your opinion! But if it's due to the chemical or physical heavy corrosion, then all the devices on the obverse & reverse side should also be disappeared
If you were to drop a coin in acid or even Coke, then it would slowly eat away at all the external surfaces. When something is buried, then you have some deterioration from the inside out, as the actual alloy of the coin is affected. It's a coin withy environmental damage, probably buried for years. There certainly is acid or environmental effects on the surface of the coin, maybe enough to make the wieght difference itself.
