Hi I have this 1944 D penny. The rim is really high or at least higher than I am used to seeing. What causes the rim to be like this. Also there are some spots that seem to have raised swirl kind of spots undrneath.

Are you talking about the raised rim on the reverse? It could be a Finned Rim. https://www.error-ref.com/finning/#...and%20collar.

yes its raised on reverse and obverse sides kind of sharp but not damaged its intact.

An end-on photo of the rim would be very welcome.

An accurate weight--to two decimal places--might tell us more.
