I'm new at this but looks like a P over P. If agree, how is this classified? Possible value beside 5 cents? Found in pocket change or bank roll, not sure which.

@mike, due to changes in the mint's manufacturing methodology, re-punched mintmarks (PRMs) have not been present on US nickels since the late 1980s.

RPM's stopped in 1990, so it's no longer possible. Your coin looks normal to me, so no premium. The doubling could be from the light source you're using.

It's Die Deterioration Doubling. On the obverse, you can see it on the bottoms of Liberty. Also a few radial flow lines indicating a late die state. You can much more easily see the Die Deterioration on the reverse. There is a huge sloped halo west of Monticello, and the letters of E Pluribus Unum are gnawed down with large spreads below them.

We already discussed the 1999-P nickels in a prior thread. When I was a total rookie, I ran across a web site that claimed a DDO existed that could be identified by the mint mark. But it's total rubbish. Further review of those coins showed all the markers of Die Deterioration Doubling, once I learned what to look for. On the 1999-P nickels, to new eyes it really does look like an RPM, and to others Machine Doubling. Evaluate it for the center-directed DDD markers, I guarantee they are present. Chewed up bottoms of letters around the rim, deterioration halos around the date and mint mark, and almost certainly a deteriorated reverse (unless the die was swapped out, I don't know how often that happens).
