Any spots, stains finger prints etc. will affect the value on any denomination. I would try soaking it in 100% pure Acetone for a couple of hours and if it didn't remove the spots ( not sure what they are)if they are rinse water spots from mint they most likely won't come off, but you can try. Ultimately you can replace it with another one.

mike31093, Spots look like so called milk spots and they are permanent. Please do not post photos of your monitors screen, the quality is not good enough. What did you use to take photos of the 2x2's? Those pics look distorted also. John1

Yes, the milk spots are not that desirable, eventually they will expand and cover a coin if left in the same environment they started in. To be Honest, I'm not even sure that they can be stopped once they show up.

From my understanding, milk spots do not grow in size. John1

Quote: From my understanding, milk spots do not grow in size. This is something to look into, if they don't grow, how do they get to the size they do? Spontaneously appear at the size they are? I have seen milk spots that had a super tiny black dot right in the center of them. I wonder if there is a correlation.

No acetone. Soaked in rubbing alcohol for several hours. Spots persist. Thanks for your response.

To John1, I use a Freedom Scientific TOPAZ XL HD Desktop Video Magnifier. There is no camera capability so I have to use my phone to photograph the monitor. Perhaps the phone was not perfectly perpendicular to the monitor. Resizing the image to meet posting restrictions could also be part of the issue. Sorry, but I'm just starting this hobby and my budget says I have to use equipment at hand.

Good Info, John. I actually have one of those clip-on magnifiers. But I have trouble keeping the coin in focus. I have to find a 'platform' with just the right height to rest the phone body on. I also have limited lighting sources so the phone body keeps blocking the light. I'll try that bottle cap trick though. Thanks for helping me.
