The coin has a raised rim.

Obverse: L on edge. I machine doubled. Last 5 machine doubled. Die crack on hair/skull.

Reverse: Maybe some die cracks on the wheats, need to look closer.

Found in change, thought it was an interesting find and making sure my assumptions are accurate and there's nothing of any real value here. Thanks all.

I agree that the condition of this cent is really nice. I'm bummed about that one carbon spot on the obv though. It is definitely a "cracked skull".

This is a classic example of the '55 Philly cent--obverse Die Deterioration, cracked skull, 'poor man's' doubled die, L on the rim. Reverse die chips too. I love '55 wheat cents.

The die deterioratioin issue is particullarly common on cents of this year.
