It seems like whatever the third digit in the date was, got "smushed" due to mechanical damage and now looks much like a number 7. That is odd though. The LWC/LMC has undergone several font revisions on the date. As noted, it's most likely a damaged 5 looking like a 7. The damage to Lincoln's cheek looks a little like the Van Halen logo!
