I have two Zhihe Yuanbaos, one in normal type, another in the rarer left facing yuan. A Chinese coin book I have states it's value at around 800-1000 RMB or abt 110-137 USD. Some examples have sold for millions of RMB, but I still don't have an avg value for it except for the book's value. I know the left facing yuan is rarer from Numista but I haven't seen any examples of it in any other place. Can you guys help with value?
I'm no help without the coins in hand. They can vary from common $2 coin to as much as $100 dollar coins. If you had exact catalog numbers you could look up auction records in numerous places online. Compare levels of preservation when doing so if you find matches.
Thanks, Albert, for the tips. A large problem is there are very little records of them sold. The ones I have found are sold for high prices. For that I have no idea what the more common lesser grade examples are eorth.
two reasons why your coins are useless, the grade is horrible, judging from the patina they are probly Balinese river coins. These are especially worhless due to how corrosive the water is to the coins. Second of all, the zhihe in your coin example is a "meizhi" or Beautifully made version, while yours are all just the common variety, even in high grades their value is <1usd. At the present grade your coins are worthless.
