This has been a long and difficult road this year. Definitely with the change that you will make Richard concerning shipments should make a big difference. Can we also at same time, increase the dollar amount to $20?

My concern about increasing the amount to US$20, is that some who participate may not be able afford the gift and postage.

It is currently set where it is as a minimum.
From what I am seeing most participants are exceeding the minimum

We don't want people to be disappointed but
Mildly surprised at what they receive.

My secret Santa gift arrived today! A big thank you to grizzlybear706 for the coins and also to loonielewy for sending it to me after it made a stop at his place.
The package included an uncirculated roll of 2020 pennies, two silver clad bicentennial quarters and an 1976-S half dollar, a dime with very cool toning and a cent that confused me at first. I wasn't sure what WUFO-001 was, so had to look it up. You can find more info here: https://doubleddie.com/2398858.html It is also what shows on grizzly's avatar. Quite interesting! The pic I took of it isn't the best, I need to play around with the lighting some more when I have more time.

I would consider raising the value of the gift to $20. For US participants, this is probably a very small amount, but for some of us it may amount to a significant amount of his earnings. I think it's worth discussing.

When I send my SS gift it is usually at or above that $20 mark, but having said that it is up to each individual as to what they send.
Also the postage can be equal to that and more, depends where you are sending.

I try to look at this from a practical side.
It is the Holiday season we are doing this.
I already get gifts for my wife.
My numerous Children, my 8 grandchildren and my 2 great grandchildren.
Not a good time of the year to be spending 44- 100 on an exchange.

Maybe we should move this to June and have "Christmas in July exchange.

Let's consider as well the cost of postage for some of the senders. I mailed a package this season to a Canadian recipient and the postage (USA sender) alone was $24 at the lowest price option the USPS has.

I say I'm fine with the $10 minimum and by reviewing the gifts it also appears that most Santa's sent gifts valued more than that.

I wanted to write a big post, but realized that I would make do with a few sentences. What if we start collecting participants for the Secret Santa a little earlier? I see that many people did not manage to get to it this year. I missed one of those days myself and was only able to participate next year. Might it be worth launching some kind of newsletter? I also suggest gradually raising the limit, let's go around $15 next year?

$20 is closer to the cost of an ounce of silver, depending on when it's bought. I sent a package to Canada, figured the cost of postage was not an issue. Yes, it was about $13 or so to send the package but postage in the USA can be close to that depending on how much it weighs. $20 just seems to me to be based on inflation the new $10

I'll chime in. Postage costs are part of the gift. How many of us gladly flooded molydeii last year in hopes of some getting through? Some made it, mine didn't. Chance I was willing to take. Same this year, got an extra gift and am not beefing about the postage to pass it on. Just part of the fun. I say leave the value at $10.00. Let the giver do his or her thing without financial pressure.

Let's hope next year runs a smooth as a clock.
