Unc details. The coin looks well struck and the devices look good. The fields look cleaned and there seems to be a large disturbance in the right obverse field under stars 9-11. It could be in a straight graded holder but I would look for an example with better fields.

I'm stumped. The luster looks a little chrome-like, suggesting a cleaning, but it could be the pics. Also can't tell whether the missing hair detail is strike-related or wear. Would have to assess it in hand.

I suppose it is meaningless to say it's either AU58 or MS62

Very pricey if it grades straight.

My guess is that its actually better than those pics.

Quite a scarce coin in anything above XF, and equally in demand as the first year silver dollars were struck at the New Orleans mint. Probably a couple or hundred less known in Unc grades.

I have this one at MS62 sharpness.

The dark areas on the obverse are likely old toning streaks. I feel that this coin was likely very darkly toned at one point and what we see here is what was left behind after attempts to improve its appearance.

As to whether or not this would earn it a "details" designation, I cannot say.

It's got AU details but my guess is it would grade as cleaned.

Lots of contact marks on the devices but the heavy mint frost seems undisturbed. Many scuffs and hits in the fields but I'm not seeing any hairlines from abrasive cleaning. Details are well-struck and the denticles look perfect.
MS-60 might be the best fit for a coin like this.
