Appears to be a rather heavily stained/encrusted piece--all brought about by exposure to environmental elements. May have spent some time in moist soil or stuck in the muck of a pond.

Sorry but no. This one is damaged and only worth face value.

I understand your opinion and I am of the same as far as it being exposed to the elements. However that doesn't account for the copper look on the front and the shiny metal on the back. If it were exposure would they look the same?

Staining from environmental damage. PMD. Might have been buried or outside at one time.

I've found similar looking coins with my metal detector when two or three coins have been lost together and one coin has partly protected one side of another from corrosion. This looks like a dug coin to me.

Unable to fully evaluate because your photos are distorted by overmagnification beyond the 800x800 pixels the board recommends. Please use a size of 800x800 or so because that tends to make a sharper image, and works with more equipment which allows more members to participate.

Not at all unusual for one side to show more environmental damage than the other. One side was somewhat protected in whatever environment it was in.

Thefat_head,

Enviromental damage like from being buried at one point.

Agree with all, dirt coin. I have dug stacked coins where the exposed side comes out heavily corroded with the other 'stacked side' near pristine. I have also found solo coins with a metal detector that looked the same. No need to be surprised, it is a copper alloy after all.
