I put this in a 2x2 back in 1970 when I was in college. I didn't own a loupe then. I came across those old flips a couple of weeks ago and decided to examine them. This was in that box. I have a question regarding the 3/2 value compared to the Double Eye. PCGS Pop Report has about twice as many 3/2 coins graded than the Dbl Eye. Why is the 3/2 worth so much more in value?

I have posted this on a Jefferson nickel Collectors page on Facebook and it was suggested this is not a Double Die but rather a Triple Die. Look at the eyes and also the S in TRUST. What say you?

Fantastic looking DDO, good job holding on to it.

I don't know either. Maybe they are thinking that an overdate is more difficult to produce than a DD. I'd buy this double eye before I'd buy the OD.

It's a beautiful coin.

The 1943/2 does capture a moment in history, rather than just a die manufacturing mistake. Repunched dates are rare on Jefferson nickels, compared to doubled dies. I agree with the above posts—I would also much prefer to own your coin than a 1943/2. The clarity of the doubling is superb.
