Hi Everybody,
I manage a retail store and came across this penny, I first noticed the scuff across the face wasn't copper colored. I cleaned it up some and noticed it doesn't appear to be copper at all. Any thoughts?

to the CCF Put it with another cent and see if it's the same dia. Might be a Texas Cent. And don't clean any coins, if it was worth anything, cleaning destroys any premium.

@adam, first welcome to CCF. Second, it looks to me like you have the zinc core of a cent here--someone has stripped off the copper plating, whether mechanically as described by @cuj or chemically. Either way, it is worth face value only.
