Bought this coin the other day. The date looks like a 1885 and I am certain there are four dotes on the obverse. Are there any other details I should be looking for to confirm?

Your title does not say that this is a ten cent coin.
99.9% of people who look at this thread will have no idea what you are asking about.
Very poor pics, looks like it has 5 dots.
Other markers indicate this coin is OBV2 not 3
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

I added 10 Cent to your title and photos are ok.A little too bright and a bit blurry.

The dot after the D of NEWFOUNDLAND is too far away for ND3, and more consistent with ND1.

In addition, I see what appears to be an upper right serif on the 1 of the date, which would make this an 1865.
