My father had bought a roll of each State Quarter when they came out from 1999 to 2007. These rolls have sat untouched since they were bought Should I open then and search through them? The 2 partial rolls had given me some interesting coins.

Generally, I am curious and would want to open them. However, the sentimentality of keeping my father's rolls intact might override that urge.

Oh I would reroll them to keep them in the same condition minus any interesting coins.

I recently decided NOT to open 22 sealed mint envelopes from my 50's -60's Mint Sets.
It was very tempting but didn't do it. Not Yet. To each his own I guess.

Boy, I would have opened all of those in a heartbeat and looked for grading candidates.

I opened 1 full roll and nothing but found more partial rolls which yielded quite a few die chips - all in the normal locations for the coins. I did have 3 New Mexico with strange marks. I would have chalked it up to damage if on 1 coin but 3 with the same marks is too much of a coincidence. Will post when I can magnify enough.

i did have 1 that was missing a 0 in the date. Unfortunately, it was gauged out afterward.

i definatly would not open them. there's nothing special in there and your dad kept them rolled so i'd keep them just as I received them.

Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures
