My first thought was - there goes whatever little if any counterfeit enforcement there was.

I imagine the reductions will be taken in a variety of areas. ebay is a huge outfit with a myriad of operational aspects--IT and database management, physical security, human resources management, user support, advertising, organizational development and strategic planning, 'product line' management, financial management, etc., etc.

Whatever the future holds--as always--buyer beware...

I can see them relying even more heavily on automated/ AI means to reject listings/ make decisions. They are so big that they don't care if a few mistakes are made-it is likely factored into their profit/ loss equation.

I can't imagine them investing in AI when they can't even search their listings for coins with "replica" etc blatantly in the item title or description, which is a violation of their own policy. Unless there is pressure from the FTC to stop providing "substantial assistance" to sellers of counterfeits, which is explicitly a violation of the US Hobby Protection Act, ebay isn't going to take it seriously. That's my cynical view.

Their customer service was pretty much going off of scripted answers anyway so replacing it with AI makes sense for them. For the most part, everything will be fine, until it isn't!! I wish there was a better marketplace platform for coin sellers and buyers.

The ebay platform openly invites crooks, let's face it. Those who buy unhappily without doing their research and reviewing the seller's conditons deserve their fate.

Everyone wants something for nothing.

Shifting to AI sounds like a disaster to me, but I'm a skeptic by nature.

Sometimes cleaning house in a huge company makes sense. Organizations drift and get overgrown with time, and little empires never shrink voluntarily.

I'm happy with their coin offerings and particularly the ebay shipping arrangement with USPS, but I've never bought anything over $20 or sold anything over $5.
