What Great Britain coin series is your favorite? From 1850 on?

G'day, I find it satisfying to collect by year: first, I put together a complete set of coins of 1820, plus varieties.
Now, I am working on 1887: this year involved two obverses, and the introduction of several new denominations; plus a few varieties.
There are many ways to define the parameters of the task you set for yourself. try to think of something, when complete, that will give you particular significance or satisfaction.

The only ones I collect are the 6p so I would have to say they are my favorite. I think it's because I like American Nickels and these are the approximate same size so I kind of took to them.

For me, the coins of Victoria, in copper, are the ones that I find very attractive. I am currently working on the set of Penny's and Farthing's, all certified for inclusion in a NGC Registry set (under Silver Dollar). I am also working on a set of New Zealand 3 and 6 pence, the complete run 1933 to 1967

I collect all british coins any date, any type, but my favourite would be the Florin, started in 1848 to 1970. The different types for Victoria alone are Godless (no DIA GRATIA), GOTHIC dated in roman numerals with mutlitudes of diferent die numbers stamped below the bust, and the types then changed again in 1887,1893,1902,1911,1927,1936(not issued Edward VII)then 1937, 1953, some of these coin especially the Gothic Variety are stunning coins. The Double Florins are interesting also and fairly easy to fill the full set as they were only issued for 4 years with only 6 different varieties.

Yes I have to agree with you there I love the old Crowns as well. I hope one day to own an 1847 Gothic Crown they look truly spectacular.

I know the money system changed in 1970 but several coins look the exact same the years before like 1967-1969. It must have been a nightmare.

Am I missing something?
