All, Has anyone seen any 2008 Britannia 50 pence coins in circulation? According to The Royal Mint web site, only 700,000 were made. And for the 1908 Olympic Games £2, only 910,000 were made. Have not seen this in circulation either. Ken |

Have you found any 2009 coins in circulation?
I am still have not seen old style 2 pence, 20 pence and 1 pound 2008 in circulation as well.
Also still trying to complete some Royal Shield sets for friends in the US but 20 pence, 50 pence, and 1 pound are proving hard to come by.

I collected a full set of the shield type 2008 coins from circulation. I have not yet seen any 2009 coins but I do not get to handle a lot of change. I also already have all of the old style from before 2008 so I was not looking for these. Sorry I can't be much help.

Hello everyone, just here to say I too am collecting all sets from circulation. Still need 2008 Royal Shield 50p, £1 and £2 coins. And still need to find 2008 old design 2p and 50p coins.
I first posted on the Welcome thread, and was surprised to learn that the 1998 and the 1999 £1 and 10p coins for both years were not in circulation. That explains why I have not been able to find them. Oh flip, I thought, I will not have the complete set now, and so I can stop looking for them. What a swizz!

Hi again.
For the current circulating coins:
1 pence coins, my understanding none for circulation in 1972. First year of issue 1971.
2 pence coins, my understanding none for circulation in 1972, 1973, 1974, 1982, 1983, and 1984. First year of issue 1971.
5 pence coins, my understanding none for circulation in 1993. First year of issue 1990.
10 pence coins, my understanding none for circulation in 1993, 1994, 1998, and 1999. First year of issue 1992.
20 pence coins, my understanding none for circulation in 1986. First year of issue 1982.
50 pence coins...no years skipped...First year of issue 1997. 10 various commerative designs issued since 1998.
1 pound coins, my understanding 1998 and 1998 none for circulation. First year of issue 1983.
2 pound coins...no years skipped....first issued in 1997. 18 various commerative designs.
So if you can find all these, you do have a complete set of circulation pieces.
Still around...ask questions. Post pics of interesting coins you have.
Also remember there is a rare chance that someone broke up a set not intended for circulation and these coins have been spent...so we could find not for circulation issues from circulation.

I collect the £1 for every year only, and I have all but the 1998 and 1999 because there were none circulated. I have a new £1 from 2008, and I am hoping someone has managed to get me the old £1 from 2008, but we will see.
The £2 I always find are hard to come by. But I have heard nothing about the stupidly ugly shake hands beijing thing.
of the new coins, I only lack the 50p and I hardly live in the UK, so I think the rest are quite easy to get a hold of.
Of the old coins from 2008 I think I got the 1p and 5p, but I am not really looking. I will however be on the look out for the 2008 old 50p.
