Very much appreciate your reply to my post mrcruise.  I guess RAM annual report is really the only mostly correct figures we all have to rely on. Renniks have to get their mintage from somewhere, but someone has mucked up those 1993 silver kangaroo mintages . Current sales on ebay have only one for sale in a capsule without the card, but all carded coins are in a capsule anyway.  As for the 2007 Frunc Silver Kangaroo, have not seen one in a case, only carded. Proof ones were in a case. This is the reason I was questioning the RAM report. The figures they gave me were... 4,598 made and 4,543 sold. I will be buying your pdf(book)  Thanks mrcruise. |

Just a note on the 2007 Frunc Silver Kangaroo, it was never released to the general public by the Royal Australian Mint - all coins went to private dealers in cases or capsule (I cannot confirm which one). So all carded versions of the 2007 Frunc Silver Kangaroo are private releases, predominantly by Downies (Blue Card) and Global Promotions (Yellow/Black/Red Card) though I have also seen versions sold as capsules only or in old Sherwood Green cards as well.
On mintages I have seen a mintage figure of 8,598 on some websites. This is interesting considering the 4,000 in annual reports and the 4,598 figure you received from the Royal Australian Mint - when both of these combined they equal 8,598 coins

No mention at all on the card of a DCPL brand? Only big' Royal Australian Mint' lettering on the bottom.  I sent Downies a couple of questions in relation to this today, hope they can reply soon. I really like this coin, especially the gilt version. G'Day , mrcruise, In your Guide it has the medallion in the 2008 Baby coin proof set as 43grams of 99% pure silver. So I bought a couple of them for the silver. That is 43grams x $2.46 = $106 roughly, way more than the sets cost me. Nothing mentioned on the card inside about the medallion and its properties though. Only the coins. Adding to my last post. So I took a single Medallion to a pawn shop today that I got off ebay ,and a Proof set I owned already. Told the guys that the Medallion should be 43 grams of pure silver , they put it on the scales and it was only 29 grams. Warning bells started ringing in my ears. This was not a good sign. They put it in the scanner and it turns out 63% Copper plus nickel and something else. Took the one out of the proof set and it was exactly the same, 29 grams and copper.   I think your information is wrong mrcruise and it has cost me money to believe it. Have I been dupped twice by reputable sellers replacing the silver medallion with a fake?  Surely not.  I bought 3 more medallions from a seller who states that they are silver and they have just arrived in the post. I will weigh them tomorrow when I get them .If they are 43 grams then I have been dupped twice, if they are 29 grams I have been fooled again.   |

Update number 2, After just weighing the 3 I bought off the same seller ,2 were 43 grams and 1 was 29 grams. All three are the same diameter but 1 is thinner than the other 2. I know that the Magic Pudding series went from 2006 to 2008 and that the Unc sets have medallions also but they are half the size of the proof set ones. Clearly I have been scammed numerous times but hard to tell if it was on purpose ? Can you add some info as to how the 2 different medallions apparently appear in proof sets ..... or not, mrcruise please?  I have yet to take the 43 gram medallions to the pawn shop to see if they are 99% silver but now thinking that they should be and have wrongly stated that mrcruise may have got it wrong in his work, for which I sincerly appologise for. Where ae these 29 gram medallions coming from? Off to the pawn shop . |

Update number 3 Pawn shop is 5 min away , all good, 99.99 silver. Offered $80 AUD each if I had a few more or $70 for a single. Now comes the hard part of trying to get the latest seller to replace the dodgy medallion with a silver one, I need the 43 gram one not the 29 gram The latest seller obviously gave me random ones? They could have sent me 3 of the 29 gram variety? I truely do not know the reason this is happening.  |

Sorry for late replay as I have been away
From my research 1995-2000 baby medallions are sterling silver (92.5% silver) and 2001-2010 baby medallions are 99.9% silver - both weigh 43 grams
The silver baby medallions were only released as part of 1995-2010 RAM Baby Proof sets
There has never been any indication from RAM that a 29 gram baby medallion was included in the Baby Proof Set nor was there any indication that any RAM Baby Proof Sets from 1995-2010 were anything but silver
Can you post pics of both the silver medallion and the 29 gram non-silver medallion side by side?
I would be curious to see the non-silver version

Here ya go mrcruise,    one on the left is 99.9 % silver ,one on the right is 66 % copper plus nickel and more. The silver medallion looks white whereas the copper medallion looks grey. Same @43mm . Just got a refund from Roxbury's (Imperial Coins) for the 2008 Baby Proof set with the Cupronickel medallion that they sent out to me after I won the ebay auction. I told them that it should be silver and was not happy with it. They happily agreed to refund me no dramas. |

Thanks for posting pics - I have never seen a thin version of the medallion - I would guess that whoever replaced it relied on the fact that most people do not pull the medallion out of the case to examine it

Still the fact that some of these proof sets have a cupronickel medallion instead of a silver one is perplexing. I really do not think that people are replacing the silver medallion .  Instead that the RAM has .  Has someone actually faked the medallion? I do not think that someone would or could be bothered to do that. I will put an information request about this directly to RAM ,and maybe you can too , to solve this scam. This needs to be recognised or disputed with RAM responses to this question. |

I am seeing many of the following items for sale on ebayhttps://www.ebay.com.au/itm/185703819349https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/395919540699Some sellers list it as silver - other do not The sleeve with these items do not indicate they are silver which at the very least suggest they may be the source of the non-silver medallions It does not take much to lean towards the notion that someone bought a heap of these and substituted them with the original silver RAM medallions For the record this is pure speculation |
