I first thought it was just a die issue (still could be) but I have 8 of these and it sure looks like a partial "S" to the north. Sure would like some better eyes looking at it? Maybe silvio could look at it?

John, that's the thing, I have no clue. I went through the whole list on coppercoins and didn't find anything like it? I guess I was posting to see if anyone thought it could be a S to the north?

The third one is doubleddie.com.

As far as your coin goes, I think you have a Die Chip that's starting to form.

E&V nailed it, just chipping. The 50's were infamous for this. Here is a link to one on Lincoln Cent Forum, referred to as a "Flying D". Yours looks to be forming on the west side too, to go along with what has started on top. Some make it to join the 9.
