Went detecting this past Sunday for 3+ hours. Finds are mostly typical of what I've managed to dig up.

One green LMC, too crusted to get a date. Several pull tabs (one beaver tail, I learned a new term guys/gals), many soda/beer cans, a few twist tops, 2 bolts (7" & 2"), an automotive brake shoe, an 8" busted piece of machinery, a 3 foot length of steel beam (4" square, hollow center, many holes in sides; like angle-iron only thicker), foil, small metal ring (not jewelry & not magnetic).

Most interesting find is a plated, combination lighter/knife, weighs about 700g. The shiny sides look like dozens of tiny bubbles when viewed under a microscope. The other side may have a camouflage insert. Knife blade is about 1.5" long and stainless steel. Can't find any maker mark but the heft and design makes me think this was a valuable item once. Lid came off when I pulled it out of the ground. A keeper.

Nice finds! That knife is really cool. What type of area were you detecting in?

A small (mostly unused) overgrown wedge of land in the middle of town next to a major roadway with a drainage ditch running through it. My map said it was 5 acres but much of it was unsearchable. I did find some remnants of perhaps someone camping there.

Wow! I haven't seen a real pull-tab in years. Almost forgot what they looked like.
