Hi,

This is hard to show, but there is like a halo effect around chest and face of Lincoln. The other pennies show a single thin line, but this one has a thicker line as a boundary on face and chest.

The second photo shows it better. See the dark thick boundary? That's in place in what normally would be a thin outline of Lincoln on right side.

Yes there is a carbon spot but the area of focus is the right side on Lincoln outline that seems to be a thick shadow rather than a thin line.

That "strange shadow" is also in the folds of his suit and collar. I suspect it's just crud or corrosion.
