I always thought I overpaid for this 1921 2x2 Alabama Commemorative, but I still like it.
Nice example!

Cedar- what is this coin? I'm not a collector ( afraid of counterfeits and would prefer not slabbed) of these but it sure is nice looking.

@southsay - thanks for the question

This is an Alexander tetradrachm. It depicts the bust of Herecles (Hercules) on the obverse and Zeus seated on the reverse. It originated during the time of Alexander the Great but continued to be minted for a couple of centuries after his death.

Mine was minted around 316-311BC, about a decade after Alexander's death.

I bought this from a very reputable seller, and also had an expert take a look, so no concerns there.

Ancients are more of a side interest and not my main focus, hence why I've posted in this thread - not necessarily overpaid, but certainly paid more than I would normally for an ancient coin.

My "biggest" coin expenditure for my collection. Big, 5 oz, coins, big dollars. Paid full mint price, but, bought them through CC&C. Had help form my family, as $ gifts towards these, they knew I really wanted them. I covered most of the cost, but it was nice having some help, and they all love the set too. Overtime was open, so I decided to treat myself for my 50th. Received a coin every 2 months with the case coming with the 6th coin. I'm gonna blab.

I found out the perks that came along with this set that the mint doesn't give you. I highly recommend that you buy new stuff from a dealer. Over a few years I received about 3 unexpected packages with old NCLT and what not, nothing really valuable, but still cool to have show up out of the blue. I used their gift certificates to buy my only gold coin, and another to hoard some 2005 silver dollars. Got these deal at just under spot when the discount was applied.

I also returned my 1st 2 coins, which were replaced, due to flaws I didn't like. They tried to tell me they had pictures to prove the 3rd one, it was coin 6, I tried to return was perfect. So that was that. Wish I had a different 50 cent piece, it's got a tiny blemish, but you folks know it jumps right out at you once you've seen it, all the others are stunning.

Don't regret this buy at all.
