Here is another pair of same coin, different features: the 1878-(P) Morgan silver dollar in the 8tf and 7tf varieties. The 8tf variety was later discovered to be impossible on an eagle so for the rest of the series was changed to the correct 7tf.

For the VAM enthusiasts here, the 8tf is a vam-4, and the 7tf is a vam-202A...

Just for us novices, please make sure you tell everyone what the differences are.
On the Morgans I assume tf is tail feathers.

Just checked my Buffs, and it seems I also have the raised and flat ground varieties,
