I bought this 1878 IHC today and am wondering what grade it is. Thanks!

with the "moderate but not heavy" environmental damage but to my eyes approaching the XF realm, so VF-35, ED...

A good long soak in 100% acetone or verdi-care might do wonders for this coin

Once the metal is already deeply pitted, verdi-care or acetone are lost causes, and this coin has deep pitting in several places.

I appreciate the feedback. It looks better in hand than in the pics, I believe. I paid $20 for it so it is what it is.

I soaked it about 24 hours in verdicare and thought it made an improvement on it.

$20 was a very fair price.

i think the verdicare was not a bad idea. at minimum it stabilized the verdigris and helped preserve it
