I recently ordered 10 x bundles of UNC CDN $5 bills, from my bank (charge $34). I was expecting that the bundles would be numbered consecutively. Not one single bundle was. The notes were new (I wore gloves), but I am left with the impression that these were not original bundles. Anyone else had this experience? Should the bundles have been consecutive?

You will find 10 to 50 notes in sequence some times, but with today"s tech, there is no need for the serials to be in order, I believe starting this year the US BOE will also be following this, practise just makes it more difficult for collectors

I'm curious why the bank charged you $34.

Although I've never been charged, it has been discussed like a threat & whenever I have asked for a brick (or bundles) it seems to raise all sorts of bells & whistles (staff even come out to check me out like I crawled off the Flinstone's set, etc) so I had stopped trying >to withdraw bricks/1000 notes< years ago. As the OP indicates, it can be completely fruitless too!

I would of thought they would have easy access to bricks just based on the number of ATMs each branch has.

Funny how getting a brick of 5s would arise suspicion... unless the cost of illicit drugs has cratered and dealers need a lot of 5s to make change.

Buyer "How much for that meth?"
Dealer: 1 for $5, or 3 for one Viola Desmond.

For context, I inherited some money in 2014 & ordered 1 brick of $20.00, 1 brick of $10.00 & 1 brick of $5.00 from TD & could not believe how annoyed & shook up everyone in the branch was. Then when I went to deposit I was interviewed by my BMO branch manager.
i kept thinking, "you gotta be joking! There's surely bigger fish out there to hassle!"
