As one might expect, buying boxes of coins is a bit of a gamble. If one obtains boxes and searches the rolls--over a period of many, many years--one does come across some keepers. It's a function of time and volume. Grab a disappointing box or two and call it quits is certainly understandable, but really not indicative of what can be found over time.
It's a great way to find some really nice coins worth money. E found everything from silver to double dies and have made a good amount of money as well. But you either will love it or hate it.
2023 was not a low-mintage year for halves, if they're all from that year. In fact, highest half dollar mintage in years, with nearly 60 million cranked out between P and D mints. I'd pass.
yes, not much to find buying a box like that. especially if they are all 2023's What you want is to buy halves that have been rolled up long ago and turned it to a bank to try to find the silver ones (1964 and older)
