Hey guys I found this penny in pocket change. It's silver colored, my guess is that it's plated as it weighs 2.55. I did I big no no and scratched it on the edge. And was silver underneath. There are some very tiny copper specks that appear to be sitting on top of the silver color, not in scratches but on top. Weighing in at 2.55 I'm a little perplexed because if the copper was removed to reveal the zinc, making it silver colored, it would weigh less unless it was a heavy copper coin to begin with. Also doesn't stick to a magnet.
Any thoughts?
