I have this beautiful coin, slightly oversized and slightly overweight. Is it something I should be concerned about, or am I making a mountain out of a molehill? I notice there is some rim oddity right above 'St'ates.
Also unsure if it was polished. There are some dots of dirt on the obverse.

Specs with tolerance added for 1866 is 3.24 - 10% over spec adjustment is pretty significant. Rim looks odd at bottom of reverse, can you add a pic of rim? Also, diamonds are virtually missing but remaining wear does not support. I'm suspicious.
I swing a metal detector and have a knack for finding dirty old coins.

Yes, I am suspicious as well. Hence, the reason for the post. I will try my best to get rim photos with my wonky camera and my limited skills. There are those dark rim spots, and I failed to mention another obverse rim glob above 'merica'.

I see the importance of some type of holder that will hold a coin upright, and maybe some kind of lighting device to improve rim shots. What would that be called, so I can buy one? I'm off to the doctor....I'll try another round of pics after.

Well color me embarrassed. I weighed the coin again, and it is 3.2g. Not sure what on earth happened, I weigh a coin several times to be sure. Maybe some object was toughing the side of the scale, I don't know. But 3.2g is it.

yep, 3.2g sounds a bit better..
The rim sure looks like it has been hit many times, and maybe a small CUS or Rim Fin too.

Are you thinking of having it graded?

I have some 26,000 in the safe. I would have to sell off a small country to do that.
