@Keith67: Wow, what detail, wonderful coin! @Spence: Yes, those look a bit fun (I have an obol from that "series", so it does not fit in here). Very nice! Another Carolingian, temple type: Denier, West Francia, 840-864, Charles "The Bald", Paris. Silver, 1.69 g, 21 mm. Obverse: CARLVS REX FR (Charles King of the Franks). Reverse: PARISII CIVITAS (City of Paris).

Pretty good detail remaining on your latest coin too @era. Here is a Denaro from the first half of the 12th Century Susa (Italy). It was issued on behalf of Count Amedeo III.

Another nice coin, Spence! I'm staying in Paris, with this one: Denier parisis, France, 1137-1180, Louis VII, Paris. Silver, 0.91 g, 19.5 mm. Obverse: LVDOVICVS REX // FRA-NCO (Louis King of the Franks). Reverse: PARISII CIVIS (City of Paris).

Back to Prague/Bohemia for me. This 12th Century Denar has an old museum/collection identification number penned onto the surface of the coin. It serves as a good reminder that we are only temporary stewards of these coins--I've owned this one for less than 1% of its life.

Quote: This 12th Century Denar has an old museum/collection identification number penned onto the surface of the coin. That's cool. Very nice portraits on the reverse. I can counter with this charming portrait, of the same Louis as my previous coin. Denier, France, 1137-1180, Louis VII, Bourges. Silver, 1.08 g, 19 mm. Obverse: LVDOVICVS REX (King Louis). Reverse: VRBS BITVRICA (City of Bourges).

Nice one. Would you call that a floriated cross on the reverse or something else? Here is a early 12th Century Dinero from Aragon Spain (Toledo mint):
