Quote: So maybe the site is fixed, or there really isn't that great of a demand. Methinks the latter... Quote: guess not too many want this coin as its still available. Quote: Last I looked, they were over 85% sold.

Quote: Last I looked, they were over 85% sold. That makes sense to me. Combining those who collect modern gold coins with those who collect Sacagawea dollars (and can afford the price), I think that 7,500 is attainable.

The high price of admission for gold these days is a huge turnoff.

I have a feeling if they remove the HHL the sellout will happen.

It's just too darned expensive and a very niche collector group on top of that. For anyone wanting to collect/stack gold itself, there are far cheaper ways: this is $525 over spot right now (if my math is correct, feel free to check me). That said, I'd like to get one if the price were lower. The 7.5k mintage limit does add a little bit of intrigue. I did get the Kennedy 1/2 oz gold and I love it, plus I have a lot more attachment to that series than Sac. I bought it with the markups knowing I wanted it regardless of the market. And not to rub it in for those who passed on Kennedy, but it's worth quite a bit more than what I paid for it; I'm far in the black on it even after the Mint markups. That's 20/20 hindsight of course. If I were just going on historical gains alone, I might bite on Sac 1/2 oz but gold is so insanely priced right now that there has to be a correction at some point. Right? RIGHT?! who knows. At $525 over spot, this isn't really the thing you want to speculate on and should be something you add to your collection intending for it to STAY in your collection. Also - I'm definitely NOT poo-pooing those that got it; congrats to you! I'm sure it will be spectacular! I hope you will regale us with photos.

I like it but the mint has gotten way to greedy for me to buy from them. When they doubled the prices on ASEs and Silver proof sets back in (what 2022?) for no reason I cancelled dealing with them. Selling over 7,000 at $525 over spot is just too much.
I would rather spend the $$ (if I had it to spend) getting a traditional US gold coin which would be just about spot.
When they were being sold I did get the 2014 Kennedy. The profit to the mint was reasonable at the time.

According to commenters on the article on Coin News, there's 50 left. Might sell out by tonight.
I remember being able to check inventory by looking at the source code, but they've since changed it up since I last tried that trick, so don't know how to do it now.

Definitely encouraging for this release! I'm glad.
SOOOoooo.... one wonders what the demographic distribution for the 7500 coins looks like. At least, THIS one.

If anyone is trying grab one, there's some available again. Guessing these are what became available after CC declines, HHL audits (which is still in place), etc.

Back on sale this morning, 120 available... that's typical as they start to review and cancel duplicate orders, plus customer cancellations.
The Superman coin is still available a week later, at 1992...

Quote: Dare I say Sacagawea is more popular than Superman?! YES you can dare say that and I totally agree. At least for coins! I don't understand, or if I subconsciously "understand", I certainly don't appreciate, the use of non coin associations put on US Mint coins. Especially when you consider the crap the mint goes through to produce this garbage, in gold. But for example I bet they would have like to have this Sac dollar in silver, but because of stupid legislation, they can? 25th is a "silver" Anniversary, this would have been more appropriately done in silver. But forget that, right? Just make a gold "coin" with Superman on it, let's not do the hard thing. Maybe if the new mint director is a numismatist, he can get this legislation fixed so the mint can actually do something worthwhile.
