I have been keeping the seller apprized of this situation - and he has the audacity of asking me if I put my mail 'on hold' Like I love driving 10 miles to the post office everyday to check on this package. I'm surprised, NAY, insulted they they would ask such a question of me.

To be fair, if your neighborhood is getting raided by porch pirates, you might indeed switch to pick-up only.

nope, actually my neighborhood is very good, no pirates to be seen for miles. (I have 3 cameras all pointing at my front door from 3 different angles (1 is a license plate reader too.)
anyway, I do have a conclusion to this mess ( a good one if you .. well wait for it...)

OK it was not until I filed a complaint with the US Post Master that got my local post office to actually start searching for actively (now that a spotlight was on them to find it) it took them 3 hours to locate it after I showed up AGAIN with the complaint letter at 0830 in the AM. the parcel got stamped "Postage DUE" and dropped into a box and left untouched and unsearched until I prodded them that I was not going to go away. After they found it, the General Manager of my branch office called me personally and apologized and waived the the postage that was due on it. EVEN though the postage WAS paid!! (see top left corner) and they offered to put in on a truck for special delivery to my house.

Whew, glad you got it finally. Obviously USPS made a mistake. Helps some they apologized.

Woo hoo! I'm happy for you, Dearborn, and you must be tremendously relieved! Strange thing with that "postage due". Weigh the parcel to see if the postage was truly underpaid. I've accidentally underpaid postage on a few items, and USPS/eBay charged me for it later on. And a few times when I've overpaid, they issued a credit. But this whole situation was a fiasco on their part.

Pretty smart Hondo!! the package weighs 6.058 ounces and they paid for only 4 ounces of it.

Even knowing the hazards of ebay feedback, I might consider leaving a few stars short on your review over that snafu. You did the right thing, though. Persistence is the only strategy to push through the thicket. Glad you got your stuff! =)

thank you Brand! Yes the star factor has been greatly reduced - I'll still give a positive because I got it, didn't have to pay extra (due to the post office waiving the extra fees) and they are (the coins) are in good condition and as described.

Glad you got the issue resolved! I had assumed the problem wasn't related to the seller, but clearly he wanted to save a bit on shipping since there's a jump in cost after 4 ounces. You should probably let him know what happened so he knows not to skimp on postage in the future.

Good outcome, yes!
Good to know that evil wasn't lurking in every shadow.

and now lets add another twist to this fiasco: I ordered 3 souvenir sets - a 1974-P, 1974-D, and a 1976-D. Well they sent me a wrong one - I got a 1975-D instead of the 1974-D set.
