This contest is open to CCF members having joined before March 4, 2024 and having at least 50 posts.

This contest will have seven questions and one tie-breaker. Each question has only one correct answer.
The tie-breaker winner will be the closest to the correct answer, unless someone gets the exact answer.

The answers to the questions can be found by doing internet research, some counting and some guessing (tie-breaker).
A little Spanish may help with one of the questions. Expect to spend more than a few minutes getting the correct answers.

Number your answers to correspond to the questions and the tie-breaker.

When you decide on your answers to the questions and the tie-breaker, you will send them to me in a private message.
Click on my user-ID (nss-52) to view my profile. Under contact information, click "send an email".

Do not post your answers on the board.
Post that you have entered the contest (such as "answers sent").

Only entries received on July 1 through July 6 will be valid. Winner will be announced July 7th.

If somehow more than one person gets all questions correct and submits the same tie-breaker answer, then the earliest entry will be the winner.

The questions are in the next post.

The prize is the one ounce silver Mexican medal shown below.
Estimated numismatic value $75.

1- In what year does Mexico consider their mint to have started operation?

2- Name the author of a book only about Mexican numismatic medals.

3- In what year did both the Mexico and Israel mints strike an identical medal in bronze, silver and gold?

4- How much did someone on ebay recently (since May 1st) pay for a Mexican silver medal commemorating service to the consumer?

5- What is the first year that the Mexican mint made a reverse proof 1 oz silver Libertad?

6- What is the first year that the Mexican mint officially released a silver bullion piece specifically marked as one ounce (una onza)?

7- How many Mexican medals have I (nss-52) personally posted images of on this LINK?
Count only MEDALS or bullion.
Do not count coins or counterfeit coins.
Counterfeit medals should be counted.
Obverse and reverse of same medal in the same post - count as one.
If only one side posted - count as one.
If I posted exact same medal more than once, count it in each different post.

I counted these several times and got different answers, so I had to come up with a way to get the correct answer.
I am very confident that my count is correct. But if nobody gets my answer, then we will have a recount.

8- Tie breaker....this will have to be a guess.
How many Mexican medals do I have cataloged in my collection as of June 1st 2024?
Hint: The answer is less than 500.

Only answers submitted July 1 through July 6 will be accepted. Good Luck!

1- In what year does Mexico consider their mint to have started operation?

La Casa de la Moneda was established on 11 May 1535. Although the first coins were produced in 1536, they started operations in 1535.

The mint periodically issues coins and medals celebrating that date, such as the following.
