It seems like everything everywhere has gone up at least 20% in the last couple of years so I'm not shocked. But this increase 9 days out is enough to prompt me to scale back from 3 to 1 of each. And to keep only one set updated going forward. As much as I enjoy them, they were expensive for a 0.859 troy oz coin to begin with.

I was a step ahead of the Mint this time. I stopped ALL purchases from the Royal Canadian Mint very early this year due to my feelings on pricing/value of their items. I still maintained my US Mint subscriptions until this past Sunday; I just figured some items I bought were more "just because" items and NOT "desired" items. So, I zeroed out the Peace dollars (and the Morgan/Peace duo) subscriptions for 2024. Two days later I got the e-mail about the price increase, which I kind of giggled at. I did get the silver proof set Monday, but it might be my last. I do still have the AI Dollar proof and reverse-proof sets set for future purchases, and I think I'll continue those items till they end, but the old days of buying 15-20 items a year are over. Now, what do I do with all that money I'll now have?

Reminds me of a "Moonlighting" episode where Herbert Viola says something along the lines of "to be brutally frank, and frankly, brutal..."

Quote: Does anyone not understand these increases in light of sharply higher gold and silver prices? my understanding of that issue is fine. I also understand that $1 acquires less. there were other issues that factored into my decision for permanently bailing out of directly-from-the-mint purchases and still others that keep me bailed out. I won't enumerate them all here. I'm doing fine without buying anything directly from the mint. I'm not bitter about any of it anymore; I'm grateful. with new price hikes looming, how much silver will you now be getting for $1?

I never got the email, probably because my Mint purchases have been sparse over the past 3+ years. Apart from the annual mint set subscription, I've purchased the Bush Coin & Chronicles Set and the uncirculated Greatest Generation half dollar and dollar. Otherwise the ridiculous price increases have priced me out of the market. The mint set went from $21.95 in 2019 to $29.00 in 2023. That's a 32% increase for a base metal set.
For commemoratives, in 2019, the prices for the silver dollars were $51.95 and $54.95 for uncirculated and proof, respectively. The half dollars were $25.95 and $27.95. In the past five years, the dollars have increased 48%-49%, and the half dollars a whopping 81%. For added context, the prices for the 2024 clad half dollars are approximately what the uncirculated silver dollars sold for in 2018, $48.95.

I wonder how much the folks on TV will jack up their prices to buy new stuff from them? Never understood why people would buy from them, but whatever.

I was on the fence about canceling these. I went ahead and followed suit with everyone and did it. I left the reverse Proofs on for the time. I'm working on another set at the moment anyway that is going to put a dent in my wallet. I was just wanting to keep up on these, but decided against it for now. I also thinking about getting the gold flowing hair, but will have to wait to see what their price is going to be on it.

Everything went up. I can see $5.00 to $7.00 an ounce, but not $15.00. And more on some other products.

The email says to order now before the price hike by clicking the links. Well...... I clicked BOTH links for the Uncirculated Morgen and Peace dollars. Clicking the link takes you to a page you can't order from! The price on that page says TBD. Yet the email says they are currently $76......... going to $91. I called the Mint and explained the email I received had a clickable link for those items (many other offerings were not clickable). The email was specific about ordering at today's price to avoid the price increase and to order using the links. I explained I had a subscription to these items and asked if I could pay today to avoid the price hike knowing they wouldn't be shipped for over a week. She said "no". My guess is someone at the Mint or website manager goofed on having clickable links on those 2 items. If I end up keeping my 3 pieces from each Dollar that'll cost me $90 extra! I need to decide whether keep 3 pieces in my subscription!!
