Just found a 1964 D penny, but it has a different look and color than most of my other pennies.
Did the 1984 D mintmark have a special strike, because in my hand next to the others it looks like that is what it could be. It looks lighter and and less shiney.

Not a gem. Looks like the mint mark took a hit in circulation.

Yeah, I saw that. I was hoping it was a strike or mint error. It looks like a bonus to me but I am new to figuring this stuff out on my own. I just hoard coins! Lol!
I'll probably still send it in with some others for grading and auction.

Before sending anything in for grading, post pictures of it here first. Many people make the mistake of posting pics here after sending it in and wasting their money.

A coin needs a minimum retail value of $150 after slabbing to justify all costs involved in sending it in.
Here is a link on grading: https://www.pcgs.com/photograde/
Here is a link on values, also check ebay sold values: http://m.numismedia.com/rarecoinprices.htm

Ali83I thought I could grade coins right and thought after spending my entire life collecting coins I knew how to grade. HA!. Boy was I mistaken. I didn't know crap about grading and just thought If I hoped for a good grade I would get it. It truly takes time and effort to understand grading. Good luck on your collecting and always try to learn.

It is a nice coin, but hardly in pristine condition though. Certainly not worth the expense of grading.

Spender. Release it or turn it over to a child or grandchild to introduce them to this cool hobby. After all, it's 60 years old.
