I picked this one up at a coin show a couple of years ago: I've already blown through my entire budget for this year after attending the BayState Coin Show a couple of weeks ago, but my goal for next year is to purchase one in MS68 (assuming I can find one in a common enough year that I don't have to sell the house to pay for it, that is). I actually did see a couple in my price range at the show this year, but it was after I had already spent what I brought...

Good thread idea. Sweet 1880 S. I'm more a bullion stacker than buyer of collectable coins. This is my only MS65, doubt I'll ever go higher. When I buy a graded Morgan/Peace they usually are are MS62-64, higher and prices skyrocket.

Two beauties posted so far! I also tend to look at the varieties at the expense of grade. I have several raw Morgans that I think would grade over MS65 but have only two that are actually slabbed. This MS65 1883 is the best of the two - in an older NGC holder. It is an unattributed VAM-14.

Glad you like it, Coinfrog! It wasn't actually that expensive due to how common the date is ($500, if I recall correctly). If I can find an example in MS68 next year, I'll probably end up paying 8-10 times as much.

This would be my best. Not sure of the grade though.
