Here's the 2009 US Silver Dollar that marked the 200th Anniversary (Bicentennial) of the birth of Louis Braille, the inventor of the tactile writing system that bears his name; the system was developed to aid the blind. At the time of issue, I picked up an individual Uncirculated coin and one of the Braille Education Sets. Collecting history one coin or medal at a time! (c) commems. All rights reserved. The American inventor (b. 1765; d. 1825) is best remembered for his invention of the cotton gin (1793) - a machine that that automated the process of separating a cotton plant's cotton fibers from its seeds.
