The rays emerging from the summit resemble the ones emerging from Teresa's radiate crown. . . The bluff reminds me of the backdrop for many John Ford westerns, Monument Valley. Time for me to add to the recollection with the three coins of the 2003 US commemorative coin program for the First Flight Centennial and the Wright Brothers - the creators of the first heavier-than-air powered aircraft. Here are the Gold Eagle ($10), Silver Dollar and the Copper-Nickel (CuNi) Clad Half Dollar. The inventors are hardest to see on the Half Dollar as it depicts the first flight in action vs. portraits.. However, Orville is depicted at the plane's controls and Wilbur is seen running alongside. Among his recognized inventions: the Moldboard Plow of Least Resistence (a dramatic improvement over existing farm plows), the Cipher Wheel (device for encoding and decoding messages) and the zigzag roof (a roofing system that provided for better runoff of rain water to prevent leakage).
