I was wondering if self checkouts at food stores or other places, don't accept them? I ask because one kept rejecting it, do I just go to a person next time? I never have problems with $2 Bills however

It seems possible, being so different from modern $10 notes.

Indeed. The design, the colors, the security features. All new or different.

There's a thread at PMF discussing a similar subject.

Before I went to the U.S. earlier this month, I got some cash from a currency exchange and they gave me $100 bills from the 2006 series. It looked so old-school and easily faked without the security strip. I didn't try them in a machine, but the places I purchased stuff at didn't care.

I found it a little weird that the self checkout however in the past, did accept a $2 Bill, that I believe doesn't have any security strips or photos of Jefferson's face if held up to light?

I spent a couple of small-head $5 bills on my last trip to the USA, and the shopkeepers accepted them without comment. But older (non-color) US bills aren't accepted by money changers in some foreign countries - in Zimbabwe in 2019 I got an American tourist out of a tight spot by swapping an old $10 bill she had with a new one I had. Even the little boys selling carved wooden elephants by the roadside near Victoria Falls wouldn't take it!

Strangely, in England, some self-checkouts in supermarkets will accept Scottish banknotes and others won't.

I believe the difference is that there is no updated $1 or $2 bill to worry about.
