Therefore, the lowest guess should win.

UHH OHHH !........ This is a major party foul !....We can't have this !.....very unprecendented !..... and I request a Game Master ruling on what to do now ! But, at the very least of things, it should obviously be the " 2nd" lowest guess that automatically wins....

Well, the deadline for guessing wasn't until 10AM this morning & I haven't guessed yet. Ending the round before the posted end time kind of leaves me out in the cold, unless ya'll want to let me guess the coin didn't sell.
I think we need a ruling by jbuck. In addition to the no-sale situation, the rules clearly state that for any ongoing auction the guessing must end at least 1 hour BEFORE the end of the auction.

Murty should be given a "Do Over" (a Mulligan if you will...) A coin with an established price may be a better coin to start a contest with.

Once I get a supreme court ruling on how to proceed I will follow the law.

Quote: Murty should be given a "Do Over" (a Mulligan if you will...) I don't have a problem with a mulligan. Quote: A coin with an established price may be a better coin to start a contest with. Nothing wrong with an auction coin, as long as it doesn't have a reserve or a high starting price. I'm assuming this coin had one or the other.

Okay, back to my favorite number whilst jbuck is confiding with HIS voices as to the proper way to proceed ...
I like COINAHOLIC's guess the best so far, but as I said, jbuck's guess has been the closest. If I lost 44 pounds today I'd be down pretty close to what I weighed in 9th grade, lol - not that I wouldn't like to shed a few pounds of blubber around my midsection now.
So just to reinforce my previous hints, I'll state that my #44 has something to do with the military.

ĦAy, caramba! I have been really busy today and only casually reading posts. I knew I should have checked this thread first! Okay, what to do... I propose two options: 1) trdhrdr007 posts his guess and I create a method of randomly choosing a winner. 2) murty posts a new coin with a new deadline, all guesses will have to be resubmitted. This scenario was not entirely unexpected. Two of my previous auctions did not budge from the minimum bid until mere minutes before the auction ended! Luckily both sold and sold well. I should have come up with a solution sooner, but I always figured the round host would just make up a price! I will let the consensus decide what the next move should be (re-do the round or random winner).

Quote: A coin with an established price may be a better coin to start a contest with. A good point that should be discussed with so many new players involved. Using a pre-determined price works best when it is a coin that the host purchased. However, the roots of this contest began with guessing how much an auction coin sold for. It was based on the notion that "all bets are off" when it comes to the wild frontier of auction purchases, as people often overpay in a bidding frenzy or get a very good deal! We established the "no finished auction" rules after 'yours truly' found the exact (completed) auction of one of the coins and posted the exact sales price as his guess! I fully intended to come clean, but the whole event cascaded into epic fail before I could. If you have time, read through the last thirteen pages of Season 1; you will also learn how I got roped into being the game master! So, it is what it is. I see no reason to change this rule, since the "no sale" has happened once (that we know of) in five seasons and over fifty rounds of play.
