When I logged on this morning I was going to guess $328 unless someone had posted a guess close to that since yesterday. If we go with a random draw that's my guess, but I'd rather see a "redo".

A re-do it is! That is my final answer! I will stick with my $500 guess. Not because I think it is right, but because I got rather attached to it!

Quote: This round ends Saturday,June 13,2009, at 4:30 p.m. Minimum round duration: Each round requires eight different participant guesses or three days, whichever comes first.Normally, I would require it to go until at least Sunday. But if this is an auction that ends before then, I will let this one slide as long as we have the eight guesses.

I agree! Which is why I am going to let it slide. I only posted it because I knew someone would question it.

$444, of course. At least murty "won" my little contest. Forty-four was indeed my draft number, but due to the fact that I was teaching in my hometown (one of my students was the daughter of the draft board clerk, which didn't hurt), I received a teaching deferment until I reached the magic age of 25 (I believe) and became ineligible for the draft. My brother was already in the service (at that time I believe he was in Karamursel, Turkey, listening to Soviet radio traffic) and a year or so later was sent to Vietnam, which I've already mentioned that he survived. Seems like ancient history to you sprouts, I suppose. But I remember it well. Here's a nice history of the draft lottery: http://www.landscaper.net/draft.htm...e%20Draw%22?. Edited to mention that there's an apostrophe right after "how" and before "s" in the original URL if the hot link doesn't work, and you have to copy and paste the above text.

I figured as much.It was a very stressful time back then. I was already in college with a student deferment and not part of the lottery pool.
